ADS KEEP SALATOMATIC.COM FREE FOR YOU:
|
Find mosques on your iPhone! - Following on the heels of our successful iPhone application for zabihah.com, you can now point your Safari browser to i.salatomatic.com and look up mosque listings on your new iPhone! Each listing includes a button to automatically call the mosque, plus a link to the internal Google Maps client and driving directions! You can save phone numbers and locations in your personal bookmarks as well. Works in the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. This is a beta release (ver 0.75) - it will be updated soon to allow you to leave reviews. Please let me know what else you'd like to see in our new iPhone client! |
Inappropriate Google ads? - Salams - if you see any ads above that are inappropriate for this site, please let me know. Be sure to include the domain name of the advertiser. I will have them banned if necessary. |
By popular demand - Google maps on salatomatic.com! - Sorry it took so long, but it's finally here! Scan your favorite masajid using an embedded Google map on salatomatic.com! (US, Canada, and UK only for now; other countries coming soon.) Please report any errors (browser crashes, etc.) to us here so we can improve the site performance. Enjoy! |
Frequently asked questions - the first week - We've received so many questions in the past few days, I thought it would be best to answer the most common ones here:
I can't find my mosque! What kind of site is this? It is a user-driven site that depends on you, dear reader, to help build and maintain the database. While we are busy adding mosques on our own (there are still about 500 mosques & schools that are being added by the salat-o-matic team over the next week, and we're aiming to go over the 1000 mark soon), if you don't see your mosque, you can add it and make our job a lot easier.
How do I add a masjid or school? Just navigate to the area where the masjid/school should be, then click on the "Add Mosque" link in the upper right corner.
What kind of review should I leave? Try to be as constructive as possible - this site is meant as a positive resource for Muslims and the institutions that serve them. Overly harsh or critical reviews, with sweeping generalizations, slurs, or accusations, will be removed. Also, this is not a place for theological debate.
Please make sure to read our FAQ for more answers to your pressing questions. | |

We're open for business! - Assalamu alaikum, and welcome to salat-o-matic - an editable database of mosques and Islamic schools anywhere in the world where Muslims are a minority! Based on the same review engine as zabihah.com, this site is meant to help you find the Muslim institutions in your area that meet your needs. Our purpose is to keep our community resources accountable to those they serve, by having honest reviews about facilities, activities, and quality of service. But we can't be a success without you! Please add the institutions in your area to our growing database, and review the ones in your area, so that salatomatic.com can become a valuable resource! |
The public beta begins - The basic structure of salat-o-matic is now done, and we need your help! We'll be spending the next few weeks adding more than 1000 mosques to the database, and you can help by doing one of two things: adding mosques in your area that aren't already on our database, and editing mosques already in the database to include information we don't have yet. |
Welcome to salat-o-matic! - Thank you for participating in the closed beta release of salat-o-matic. Now that the initial coding has been completed, we need you to make sure everything works all right, including the record submission & editing features, as well as the site navigation. Make sure that mosques and schools are listed in their proper area, and check for duplicates. Report all bugs to us here. Thank you in advance for all your help! |

| | ★★★★★ An excellent school providing the required subjects in an Islamic environment. The school has just moved to a new site which is much better then the temporary site the school started 3 years ago. Why send your children anywhere else!? |

| | ★★★★ This mosque is culturally diverse but if I was going to say which group predominates it would be Fijian Indian. At the end of the day however its a pretty multicultural mosque with the leaders all speaking English and long term members of the community.
Women are treated well compared to other mosques however the glass in the wall seperating the women and men's area in the prayer hall has recently been frostede over. There are classes for women and childern in the weekend, see the website for details.
There are also youth events currently focused on men however there are definitly things young women can involve themselves in. |

| | ★★★★★ Masha'allah a very active and vibrant masjid. Reminiscent of the atmosphere in Chicago. 5 times daily prayers are offered here, and the community here is blessed with many huffaz. Masha'allah this place is also active in the work of Da'wah/ tabligh/propogation. |

| | ★★★★★ Very knowledgeable and friendly brothers. Excellent programs. |

| | ★★★ Good community. Runs weekend school. Adheres to Ahlus Sunnah principles. No Imaam, no elections.
Not enough space for women. They are looking for expansion. Insufficient space for Jumah and Taraweeh. Excellent website and forums to socialize. |

| | ★★★ Of all the countries and masajid I've prayed in, this is the second most unwelcoming masjid I've encountered. If one is not from the predominant ethnic group, odds are that no one will give you salaams or care to notice that you exist. The school is good, again very specific to one ethnic group, but because of the school I'll rate 3/5 and insha'Allah ta'ala in the future this masjid will be more welcoming and friendly. |

| | ★★★★ Located in the Lower Level of UNM's Student Union Building, this is just a quick salah stop. Since the Islamic Center of New Mexico (ICNM) is up the street, this is a spot for busy students to pray in between classes. For prayer services students head over to ICNM. In order to gain access to the room, a valid UNM ID must be noted by the President and added to the access list as required by Univesity Policy. Otherwise, guest are always welcome to join memebers. |
