Maritime Muslim Academy (MMA), founded in 1984, is an independent educational institution based on Islamic principles, whose mission is to educate students intellectually, physically, emotionally and socially in a trusting and caring Islamic environment. The Academy offers standard educational programs like any other school in Canada and also offers Quran and Arabic as well as the basic teaching in Islamic beliefs, principles and values. Currently, over 120 full time students are enrolled. Students wear a uniform which includes a headscarf for girls in grades 7 and up. Nail polish, makeup and scent are not allowed.
