Frequently asked questions - the first week - We've received so many questions in the past few days, I thought it would be best to answer the most common ones here:
I can't find my mosque! What kind of site is this? It is a user-driven site that depends on you, dear reader, to help build and maintain the database. While we are busy adding mosques on our own (there are still about 500 mosques & schools that are being added by the salat-o-matic team over the next week, and we're aiming to go over the 1000 mark soon), if you don't see your mosque, you can add it and make our job a lot easier.
How do I add a masjid or school? Just navigate to the area where the masjid/school should be, then click on the "Add Mosque" link in the upper right corner.
What kind of review should I leave? Try to be as constructive as possible - this site is meant as a positive resource for Muslims and the institutions that serve them. Overly harsh or critical reviews, with sweeping generalizations, slurs, or accusations, will be removed. Also, this is not a place for theological debate.
Please make sure to read our FAQ for more answers to your pressing questions. | |

We're open for business! - Assalamu alaikum, and welcome to salat-o-matic - an editable database of mosques and Islamic schools anywhere in the world where Muslims are a minority! Based on the same review engine as zabihah.com, this site is meant to help you find the Muslim institutions in your area that meet your needs. Our purpose is to keep our community resources accountable to those they serve, by having honest reviews about facilities, activities, and quality of service. But we can't be a success without you! Please add the institutions in your area to our growing database, and review the ones in your area, so that salatomatic.com can become a valuable resource! |
The public beta begins - The basic structure of salat-o-matic is now done, and we need your help! We'll be spending the next few weeks adding more than 1000 mosques to the database, and you can help by doing one of two things: adding mosques in your area that aren't already on our database, and editing mosques already in the database to include information we don't have yet. |
Welcome to salat-o-matic! - Thank you for participating in the closed beta release of salat-o-matic. Now that the initial coding has been completed, we need you to make sure everything works all right, including the record submission & editing features, as well as the site navigation. Make sure that mosques and schools are listed in their proper area, and check for duplicates. Report all bugs to us here. Thank you in advance for all your help! |

| | ★★★★ Small place. Good group. Mostly made up of Pearland residents who live nearby. Sisters have a separate room and entrance. Brothers have a room and 2 more rooms for jummah (it gets packed). Location could be better, but it IS a musallah so not a permanent solution. They're in the process of building a new masjid which actually has a very good design. Administration here is friendly and is always looking for people to get more involved with the community. Friday nights they have halaqah and dinner. |

| | ★★★★★ This is one of those beautiful little masjids who may not have a great outward looking facade or facility, but inward it is a strong, wonderful group. And I don't mean that as an empty compliment. Really, after seeing many other masjids, I often think back to New Brunswick and realize the greatness of this masjid. So, yes, the facilities could need some improvement. Let's get it right: It's clean and neat. The main issue is space, especially for sisters. Khatibs that come in for khutbah - great. I've heard some great khutbahs here. In Ramadan, back then at least, Qari Abdul Basit (not the famous Egyptian one) would bless us with his beautiful voice. Close to rutgers. Salam. |

| | ★★★★★ Spent a lot of time at this masjid. Facilities are solid. Men and women have separate entrances, bathrooms and stairs up to the prayer hall which is on the 2nd floor. I dont think they have an elevator yet. The upstairs is very nicely decorated (look up). Imam is good. In Ramadan it gets packed. Parking lot gets packed for jummah, come early. Close to rutgers. great place. |

| | ★★★★ I don't understand the gripe these guys before me have about second jummahs and azhans, etc. I've seen some people hold a second prayer like after maghrib or something before. Although they do have a sign up that says not any sort of announcement may be made in the prayer hall. The facilities are good (not brand new, but good), its a renovated synagogue. Location is EXCELLENT - right by path trains, nice part of grove street, jersey city.
Yea, the entrance is narrow, its an old building, this is how they used to build. Most of the other buildings in the area are like this too (if you're familiar with nyc you know what i'm talking about).
Its not tribal pakistanis. I know one of the active Imams/teachers at the masjids is a young Pakistani-educated imam who is quite knowledgeable. They have few younger, American raised members who are very active. Mostly the mosque is urdu-speaking or punjabi pakistani people. Good group though. Friendly. They have (or used to have) friday night talk and dinner which was good. |

| | ★★★★★ Great masjid, great community. It seems to be "the masjid" of dallas. The Imam is Dr. Kavakci, a knowledgeable scholar of Islam. He is friendly and gives good talks. Building is nice and big. The community is one of the most diverse I've seen - a mix of many people. Very active and seems to be well organized. Their Ramadan iftar dinners are superbly organized. |

| | ★★★★★ Nice masjid. The masjid is one of those small community-oriented masjids with a friendly feel. People are friendly and pretty diverse. There is no barrier between the men and women's section. Women simply sit in the back, as is the sunnah. Imam is knowledgeable and gives good khutbahs. Parking is adequate. location is in a poor neighborhood. |

| | ★★★★★ This is the best Masjid in the area by far. They have a Thursday night program that starts at 7 p.m. The program includes salaat, du'aa, speech, and dinner. Every 3rd Thursday, the speaker is an English speaking brother named Dr. Saddik Kassim who gives the best speeches that I have heard in the English language in Philly, masha'Allah. Don't miss the program. Their website is: http://www.mahdieh.org | - Posted for Mahdiehon December 16, 2008

| | NR I just recently traveled to Denver (Dec 2008) and went to this address. The masjid is no longer there. I caught up with the mailman who was delivering in the area and he said that this masjid closed down/moved years ago and they did not leave a forwarding address. This is too bad because it doesn't seem like there is another masjid in this area. |

| | ★★★ I went here for Eid salat. Everything was in Urdu and I mean everything. The masjid is very nice and clean but they honestly need to have things available in english. |
