Masjid Annur |
|
6990 65th Street, Sacramento, CA 95823
SUNNI Until 1982, Muslim students and residents of Sacramento had to perform their prayers in a rented apartment. In 1984, the Muslim community purchased a 1.34-acre property with a small house, which served as a place of worship. The Masjid Annur Center (MAC) presently has five daily prayers. During Friday (jummah) prayers over 400 men, women, and children gather to worship. Various forms of Zakaat are collected and distributed on a regular basis. ★★★☆☆ A Walgreens or something with a huge parking space converted into a masjid, is big and active has Jummah and 5 daily prayers, but don't believe their calendar they don't really have activities every single weekend unless advertised as the activity of the month with a flier pic on the website, so call them before you jump to any conclusions, although how helpful would that be is anybody's guess

★★★★★ It is always open for salat and has a great school for children. Could be cleaner and more organized when it comes to the children running around and being a disturbance. Posted on November 28, 2011 |

★★★★★ This is the largest Masjid and Islamic Community Center in the Sacramento Valley. The building use to be a Best Buy building and now is home to a very large masjid along with full time Islamic School. The community is very active and has many events going on all the time. The parking lot is quite large, but parking can be challenging during Jummah prayers. I like the fact that the right next door to the masjid there is a shopping center with many Muslim owned businesses. Posted on January 29, 2011 |

★★★★★ The masjid where I took my shahada. They are very mixed - South Asian, Arabic, Indonesian, and born American. The new Imam is a great teacher and knows his stuff. They host classes from some of the top Islamic institutes in the country. Everything is done by the sunnah... Men and women pray seperately. One negative - this masjid seems to have more than its share of children that run amok during salat. Posted on March 4, 2010 |

★★★★☆ MashaAllah - Very big parking lot, nice community and great imam. The community is VERY diverse, and you will find that this Masjid sticks to the sunnah. Call it "conservative" or whatever you would like but it is the Sunnah of our Prophet (s). They have many programs and classes to keep the knowledge fresh and clean mashaAllah, I highly advise going to this Masjid if you are in the Sacramento area. The only thing I could advise is a nicer bathroom area, alhumdulillah they are working on that! Posted on February 14, 2009 |

★★★★★ Some things here are a little incorrect. There is transit access. The mosque used to be a Best Buy so the parking lot is quite large. The imam's English has improved so much in the last few years. In the past, other people would do a very short translation at the end of the khutba. Now, he is able to do it himself and he has added translations throughout the khutba. Women are in leadership positions in sisterhood committees. The community is really diverse and you can find people from every cultural background. There is an English halaqa and an Arabic halaqa. If someone is a new Muslim, I highly suggest contacting the masjid and asking to be put in contact with another American sister or a member of the English halaqa. Posted on October 14, 2006 |

★★★☆☆ Masjid Annur is a large masjid catering to a more conservative community. Men and women pray seperately with different entrances. The khutbah is done primarily in Arabic, with a short summary in broken English. The imam there is extremely knowledgeable, but unfortunately cannot transcend this knowledge as adequately in English. There is Sunday School, Friday Night Sister's Halaqa after maghrib, and full time school as well. Posted on July 3, 2006 |
