NONDENOMINATIONAL This mission of the Cordoba House Sunday School is to build a uniquely inclusive, and nurturing learning environment that is both authentically Islamic and relevant to modern day American life. Our aim is to equip our students with a comprehensive understanding of Islamic beliefs and practices through cultivating a personal relationship with Islam based on the love of God, His Prophets, His scriptures and His angels. Established in 2015, Cordoba House Sunday School is a program of Cordoba House that provides weekend and afterschool Islamic education to children aged between five to thirteen. The program was launched October 2015 with classes being held on Sundays and expanded in the spring of 2016 to include an afterschool Quran and Tajweed program. The education team consists of the the Executive Director of Cordoba House who acts as its principal, a full-time Program Manager, a Research Assistant and two part-time curriculum developers. In addition, the program employs seven teachers, two qualified Quran and tajweed instructors and one music director. We also have Teenage Halaqa sessions for ages 14 - 17 where important issues can be discussed. Cordoba House Sunday School has continued to grow, moving into expanded facilities to accommodate a thriving student population.
