NR The Peace Center has been renovated from a house and now has a much nicer main prayer space (for men only) and a women's space, and a burial ground. Women are not permitted in without hijab and full cover (no pants), their space is nice and clean, separated by a screen, not in a separate room. No social contact between men and women (no discussion, no questions). Nice social atmosphere among women, but no serious discussions. Tarawih during Ramadan. The normal khatib is a literalist. Shocked to hear him preach "Jews are monkeys and Christians are pigs" without appropriate additional explanation a few yrs. ago. But a very sincere and emotional delivery otherwise. Nice people but not much communication outside the inner circle, so confusion as to timing of salat al-Eid (inner group sight the moon, but no phone tree or sign to say which day selected). The surrounding towns are very insular and anti-Muslim, be cautious. Posted on January 1, 2013
★★★☆☆ We stopped by at the Peace Masjid on the way to New York. It was a little hard to find, because the area is kind of rural, so the road for the masjid is hard to see. It's right after crossing the overpass of Route 76, on the left side. The masjid has lots of land, but they are cureently in a house. Posted on September 9, 2007
