★★★☆☆ Located just off Broad Street in downtown Newark, adjacent to most colleges and unis in Nwk, this is a good place for prayers if you're a student, commuter, or just shopping. It is located in an office building next to an Islamic bookstore, on the second and fifth floors (there are signs on the stairs and elevators telling you which floors to go to).
Women have three prayer areas: behind a curtain in the main hall, in a small room next to the main hall, and in a big open space on the fifth floor. If you are in the small room or fifth floor, and the sound system goes out, you will not be able to follow the prayer (which happened to us once at 'Eid). Surprisingly, given its downtown location, the masjid is very quiet and it's a good place to relax, make dhikr, read Qur'an, or do extra prayers, even in the middle of the day.
