SUNNI Thompson Muslim Association has existed for approximately thirty five years. There are approximately twenty-seven Muslim families from diverse background and a range of countries that reside in Thompson. The members of the association belong to a wide range of professional discipline. The size of the Muslim community has created an atmosphere of brotherhood where every member knows the other by name and by personality. The community has Jumma prayers regularly and participates in most Islamic practices and calibrations. Some activities that the members partake in apart from their religious obligation are; bowling, squash, ping pong, jogging, hunting & fishing, weight lifting, swimming and regular home gathering and feasting. Families consist of children, ages ranging from infants to adults. The Thompson Muslim Association has become a branch of the Manitoba Islamic Association and is now referred to as Manitoba Islamic Association - (Thompson Branch or M.I.A - T.C). The main activity at present of M.I.A-T.C is to construct a Masjid.
