NONDENOMINATIONAL Madinatul Uloom Academy embarked on its humble beginnings in September 1996. Br. Wajiduddin and Sr. Nasreen acted on their dream to establish a formal full-time school that would fill a major void in the educational experiences of Muslim children in Toronto. In 2003, Madinatul Uloom hit its high point boasting the largest student body in an Islamic school in Ontario and likely Canada. Continued parent and community support for the school allowed it to move from their first home, a commercial unit on McCowan and Nugget Ave, to a prestigious educational setting previously housed by DeVry College. Now entering the Academy's thirteenth year, the school has developed a solid teaching staff, committed administration, and major community linkages over the past years. The school philosophy of providing an accessible, academically competitive, and religiously embedded education for Muslims in Toronto has been maintained and Inshallah will continue do be so by Allah subhana wa taala.
