 SHIA JAFARI Imam Mahdi Islamic Education Center is located at the corner of Old Harford Rd and Putty Hill Ave. It is a Brick building next to the gas station. This center is a bought by religious dues paid by a local Muslim. It has a main hall on the first floor and a dining hall at the basement. It is run by local Muslim volunteers. It has weekly programs on Thursday and Friday evenings and on Major events. It has full schedule during the holy month or Ramadan and first 12 days of Muharram, and includes both Eid prayers. Programs are in English, Farsi and Urdu, and they have translation equipment that is commonly offered. There are Quran classes, and services such as wedding and burial rituals. ★★★★★ The most wonderful mosque community I have ever known. I was a new convert to Islam searching for a mosque in the Towson area. I found this one, and I'm so happy I did, alhamdulillah. Everyone here was so kind. They'd answer any question I had, no matter what it was. They even loved to drive me to the mosque and back (I can't drive), because it was a way they could help someone. Here, nobody got angry if you sinned. Rather, they gave helpful advice on how to stop sinning and celebrated improvements, such as quitting drinking. During the year I was living in Towson, this mosque became my second family. We didn't have much money, but we always found joy in our faith and celebrated on a budget. Each Friday night there is a community Iftar after the service. Shout out to the volunteer chef -- your food is amazing! The community is mostly Iranian, but there were Afghans, Iraqis, Americans, and more. Everyone here is 100% committed to their faith and I am much more invested in my practice now that I have gone here weekly. SubhanAllah for this mosque. Posted on June 6, 2016 |

★★★★★ The people in this center are very friendly and helpful. They look happy when they see a new person show up in their weekly programs. They are mostly Iranian, Afghani, Pakistani, and Indian. However, they do their best to make other ethnicities feel home when they are in the center. I strongly encourage you to attend on their Friday night programs.
