SUNNI The All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) Center is one of the most ethnically and ideologically diverse masajid in the Northern Virginia area. Imam Magid has helped create a variety of community service programs and is regularly featured in Washington DC-area media and community gatherings. ADAMS serves over 5000 families and has 10 branches (Sterling, Tysons Corner, Fairfax, North Reston, South Reston-Herndon, Greater Gainesville, Ashburn, Washington DC, and South Riding) in Northern Virginia and DC. ADAMS maintains strong ties with other religious groups, and regularly hosts dialogs with Jewish, Christian, Sikh, Hindu, Baha'i, and other faith traditions. Additionally, ADAMS maintains an excellent relationship with the FBI, the Department of the Treasury, the Department of State, and various state and local law enforcement agencies. ADAMS serves Muslims from all ethnic backgrounds, and is governed by a highly diverse, democratically elected thirteen-member board of trustees, two of which are sisters. Our executive director, Imam Mohamed Magid, is also the president of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). ADAMS upholds all Islamic values and virtues, knows no distinction or discrimination against any individual, and is a prime example of how Muslims should act towards their neighbors and the communities around them. ★★★★☆ Attended Sunday Magrib salaat.
Huge complex. Large parking lot. Many facilities including social Posted on April 24, 2016 |

★☆☆☆☆ Put the full barrier or separate the women area. Also, during any function , there is mix gathering and intermingling which does not give the right picture of islam Posted on January 16, 2016 |

★★★★★ Hey 1badbadu: stop putting Sheikh Samiullah's personal business out there. Mind your own business sir!

NR 0 rating because there is no barrier between men and women. There is too much politics amongst the board members. Recently the best reciter of the holy quran, qari samiullah left them just because of the same reason.
Such a big place to play and other activities but only a small room to worship the one who gave all the abilities to do all this. SAD Posted on June 17, 2013 |

★★★★★ Mashallah this is a wonderful Islamic Center with many satellite facilities. I drop here everytime I am in NOVA. They offer a wide variety of services to the community. Definitely a must visit !! Posted on January 13, 2011 |

★★☆☆☆ This place used to be the "Go-to" masjid in the area. They are extremely large and at one time offered the best programming as compared to the other masjids in the area. Things have sadly changed over the years. the best thing going for the masjid is the youth director who seems to keep the youth engaged. Posted on October 24, 2010 |

★★★★★ Salaam. I have visted this masjd a few times and it is, arguabley, the most active Islamic center in the metro DC area. The facility itself is huge and they regularly feature nationally recognized speakers like Hamza Yusuf. It is true that the place can get rowdy with kids running everywhere and men and women mixing in the halls, but I have never seen anything inappropriate; women wear hijab, children were respectful (if excited) and the administration and staff seemed to be firendly. One of the best attributes of the ADAMS center is that it IS family friendly. Other masjids (not to be named) frown on bringing kids to prayer (especially jummah). Single moms, nannies, dads doing daycare can all show up with kids to make salaat. I p[ersonally feel this is in keeping with the true spirit of Islam. I cannot attest to having witnessed the problems that others have witnessed - m y only sugegstion would be that during big events better crowd control and volunteer coordination is needed. If I had to sum up this masjid I would use one word COMMUNITY. Every cross-section of American ethnicity is represented and the variety of opinions (within the Sunni spectrum) I believe actually add to the vibrancy of the place.

★☆☆☆☆ It is true that a segment of this community is breaking off. The unfortunate problem is that within the past year the leadership has become increasingly hostile to community feedback. They hired a new deputy director to enforce more power. This new deputy director has upset many in the community by his behavior so some people have decided to break off and start their own masjid in nearby Herndon. I am very sad at these developments because this once used to be a very professionally run orgranization. The deputy director came and fired an excellent staff (these were very hard working people who the whole community appreciated) and implanted his own people so as to exert more "authority". Another issue which has crept up over recent years is the deterioration of the teenagers. Many teenagers here behave very badly because there is lack of discipline both on the part of the parents and the masjid. This has led to a very bad atmoshphere. They shout, curse, fight, wear very innapropriate clothing and do other innapropriate things and nothing is being done about it! One time I actually saw a boy and girl coming out of a bathroom holding hands together! It has gotten so bad that some parents no longer bring their teenage kids to this masjid because of the bad habits they have picked up due to negative influence! Aastugfirullah! I have been a member of this community for so long and it is really sad to see how bad things have become. Please pray for us! Posted on March 7, 2009 |

★★☆☆☆ This was once a great masjid. Imam Magid continues to be a wonderful leader however the problem now is that a new president has been appointed over the past year and he hired a deputy director to oversee the masjid. Unfortunately they have brought a lot of turmoil. They have turned what was once an open and peaceful masjid to one that is closed off and filled with rancor. They no longer value input from the community, acting as dicatators instead. The deputy director is especially rude, is prone to making rash and hasty decisions, and displays anger very easily. My wife and I had an especially rude encounter with him when we tried to donate clothes to the masjid. Instead of calmly telling us that was against masjid policy he snapped at my wife and made us feel as though we committed a crime! There is now talk among some in the community to spinter off and establish a new masjid in the local area. Things have become quite sad indeed. Posted on January 24, 2009 |

★☆☆☆☆ My dh and I have went to this mosque twice. First, let me add the Imam mashAllah is a great leader and my only problems with this mosque is the staff. The first time we went to the mosque after the Imam left we were waiting for the staff to do something for us they were all saying rather rude comments right in our face, playing (mixing) and ignoring us. The second time my husband called and the girl hung up in his face for no reason what so ever. This was in Ramadan and my husband called back and was like I am fasting so I am not sure what the problem is here I just need to talk to the Imam. Later we went to the mosque and was met by one of the most rude men I ever met who worked there. We were never greeted with Salams nor was anyone else. A man was actually telling him his brother was sick and never once did he say May Allah heal him, nothing. My husband only asked if he was someone (thinking he could be) the man started yelling and saying no he was not. My husband was like why are you yelling, then the worker said 'All you Muslims are always so defensive". What Muslim says this? He was so rude to us, yelling and wow just RUDE. The worker did not want to help us what so ever with some papers we needed help with. He was mad that he was told to. When he was done he just walked out never said one word. My husband said jazakAllah khair and still NOTHING. It was very weird and never have I saw anything like this. I have to say the Imam is nice but to bad the staff are not this way. The women taht work there mix freely with men, do not cover their hair. Its just astagfurAllah like a social event. People need to remember that all mosque are ALLAHS mosque not peoples and the work they do there are for the Muslims, that is their job. If they do not like it they should find another job.. NR Of course this is a very nice mosque and may Allah bless the people who have built it and work so very hard to maintain it.
We went during this Ramadan for Tarawi and also Maghrib. My only problem with it was the many many children who no one wanted to control. There was so much noise that I could barely pray with kids often running in front of me and creating a big rukus. Why do people forget the etiquatte of the mosque and act like it's a social gathering, not a place for worship and respect? Posted on September 16, 2008 |

★★★★★ I would like to first clarify two claims under "Facilities." There is a low, move-able barrier in the main hall that is put up during Jummah (and other large) prayers to separate the women's area from the men's. It is waist height and latticed (you can see through it, though when sitting, the view is not ideal). Also, there are facilities for children during all main events; they are either allowed to go into a classroom in the basement (where the weekend schools are held) or, for mothers/fathers with children during Jummah, asked to go to the upstairs (smaller) daily prayer hall. That said, I am proud to be an active member of this masjid. I am of the belief that when everybody feels (equally) slightly annoyed by minor things in an institution, that genuine compromise (which is a process, not an end result!) can be achieved. Nothing can be perfect, but the fact that so many people in this community wish for better makes the ADAMS Center and community what it is- a model. Posted on July 24, 2007 |

★★★★★ ADAMS is a wonderful, diverse, and large community that is focused on the youth and developing and engaging young leaders to help direct the masjid. ADAMS is truly involved in the greater community and welcomes everyone. Posted on May 10, 2006 |

★★★★★ This has got to be one of the most wonderful masjids. I am an ADAMS member and love this place. From the people at the masjid, staff, board members, CEO and everyone else is friendly, considerate and polite with a strong sense of brotherhood and sisterhood. I would recommend this masjid to anyone! Do attend all their events, schools and programming - top notch! Posted on January 30, 2006 |

★★★☆☆ Like many masjids, it has its share of politics. I've been a few times and found that many of the people that come for prayer generally disagree with most of the masjid's policy. That being said they are the most active masjid in the area and do a lot of activities for the communities and otherwise. Posted on June 19, 2005 |

★★★★★ Before they built the new masjid I attened the rental spot the used in a shopping mall. It was very nice, and the youth activities for boys and GIRLS was impressive. In the new Masjid the actually share the gym with the sisters. It is a MYNA/MSA/ISNA crowd but they aren't hard core. They are very professional and how programs that fit the needs of the diverse community they represent. They are clearly one of the best if not the best Masjid in the DC/VA/MD area because of there professionalism and aggressive efforts to include the women of there masjid in the dicision process. ★★★★★ I was impressed with the professionalism of this place. The ADAMS people certainly have their act together. I especially appreciate the diversity and quality of their programs. I just wish we lived closer to it so we could take advantage of them! Posted on May 26, 2005 |

★★★★☆ It's pretty good. I have to say it's probably one of the best in the area. To feel most at home, you should probably be raised in MYNA/MSA/ISNA. Posted on May 26, 2005 |
