SUNNI Bangladesh Association Greater Reading (BAGR) was formed in June 1993 and has been a registered charity in England since 26 July 1994. The BAGR runs a cultural and community centre for Bengali mother tongue and Islamic education as well as a library at its site on Waylen Street. It celebrates important dates in Bangladeshi history, such as Independence Day and Ekushe February (Bangla Language movement of 21 February 1952), which is also now universally recognised as International Mother Language Day. In the next few years, the BAGR hopes to expand its office, incorporate conference rooms while providing a better education, a larger prayer hall for the mosque, and many more facilities to continue serving the best interests of the Bangladeshi and local community in Greater Reading.
