MEC is one of the largest Chicagoland mosques supporting a full-time Islamic school, weekend schools, and youth groups for brothers and sisters. ★★★★★ This masjid is the center of a large community on the North Side and northern suburbs of Chicago. The masjid construction has been completed and all daily prayers and Friday prayers are held inside a beautiful and clean prayer space. Everything is done in English and the congregation is a diverse mix of liberal and traditional Muslims. The new imam is a great resource and there are classes every night and Sunday school for children. The masjid also hosts lectures by visiting scholars and many youth activities. This place has a big masjid feel but if you choose to get involved, it can have a tight-knit family feel as well. Posted on June 25, 2011
