★★☆☆☆ I agree that Waterloo Masjid is not a sister friendly mosque. I had the bad experience of going there for Iftar with my husband during Ramadan. Iftar on the sister’s floor was poorly organized. There were 30-40 people present. Some nice aunties brought home made food, but there wasn’t enough of everything for everyone. Later when I was going home with my husband, he told me that the men’s floor was over-flowing with food and they catered from a couple of different restaurants. I was angry to say the least. It baffles and saddens me to think of the immense disparity in a community mosque in North America. To be fair to the mosque, I will add that I have only prayed there a few times, and don’t know much about the programs they offer. However, because of that experience, I was disappointed enough to never go back to the mosque after. Posted on August 2, 2013
★★☆☆☆ When I first started going to this Mosque, the women were allotted half of the top floor, a room on the main floor and a basement area. Since then the space has has been reduced to the main floor and the basement, with the possibility of loosing either area if male numbers demand. The Libraries in the women's section are lacking in verity and the books are often in bad shape. There are programs such as learning Qur'an and Halaqas, but they tend to be sparatic and poorly advertised. Iftars are alright but not great, and outside of Jummah and the odd times classes are held, the women's entrance is locked. Overall, not a very sister friendly Mosque. Posted on June 20, 2012
