Masjid Al-Islam was established by 8 men and women in November, 1987, to provide a place of worship for the Muslims in the Greater New Haven area. By Allah's mercy, the community has grown over nearly 20 years to a community of over three hundred men, women and children. ★★☆☆☆ The imam is extremely conservative and sexist. I was not made to feel welcome or included, and the imam made me walk up a set of narrow stairs on crutches, rather than pray BEHIND the brothers during prayer, but himself sat and spoke to me in the women's section. Seemingly a nice community in general, but the leadership made me extremely uncomfortable. Posted on December 20, 2016

★★★★☆ I went there for the Juma prayer for the first time. It was awesome. It is great to have all those Muslims in this community. The Imam speech was good generally.
