★★★★☆ I am a member of the Nigerian community so I was excited when I found out that such an organization existed. I've been to the mosque many times, it's a small mosque that is located in an industrial area.
There's one entrance into the mosque. As you walk in, there a door to the right leading to two class rooms. The walkway then leads you to the brothers and then sisters praying area. After those, there's an open area in the back which has seats and they hold community gatherings.
Most of the attendants were Yoruba (an ethnic group in Nigeria) and most were welcoming. During Ramadhan, they have daily iftar serving up huge portions of Yoruba food (jollof rice, eba, amala, iyan and others).
I went to the mosque for Eid two years ago, and it reminded me of doing it in Nigeria when I was younger. Everyone was dressed up in their best traditional Yoruba outfits and gathered together.
Constructive Criticism: sometimes the Khutbah is in Yoruba so if you can't understand the language, you are out of luck. Posted on July 12, 2013 |
