Literally on the other side of the tracks from the Main Road Mosque, Masjid al-Jamia (or Stegman Rd. Mosque) dates back to the early 1900's. Like the Main Road mosque, it survived the ravages of the Aparteid regime and continues to provide a great service to the people in this part of Cape Town. This mosque is quite active in the community, providing services to ranging from classes for converts who are xhosa and non-xhosa speakers to ladies and youth groups.
