| Madina Masjid: ★ This is one of the oldest Masjids in Toronto. That must be the only good thing about it. Other than that, it's like any other Masjid from back home. They only programs they offer is the 5 times daily prayers and Tafseer on Sundays. No programs for students and the administration hates females. They intentionally try their best to make sure that females are turned away from the Masjid (the best places on Earth) even though they themselves send their womenfolk to the shopping malls (The worst of places on Earth)! Also, 20 years ago, it was a leading Masjid in North America. But they haven't done anything since then. One of the most stagnant, underutilized Masjids in North America. Probably because the committee members make sure that people of other races can't join the Masjid admin. A total waste of space. And as if the above points weren't enough, now they are embarking on a face uplift of the Masjid which will cost $1 Million dollars. [edited by admin] That same money could be used to start an Islamic School in that area. But no, they want to waste the publics money on an unnecessary project. [edited by admin] There are no weekly/monthly/yearly programs for the females at all and they intentionally discourage the females from coming to the Masjid. (Submitted on September 25, 2006) |
| Islamic Foundation of Toronto: ★★★★★ I wish every single Masjid in North America was like this Masjid. Everytime I go here, I feel so calm and peaceful. Almost every week, they have some program going on here. They have many programs for the youth as well as the sisters. They have the best Islamic School in Toronto. A really nice two story parking lot. Everything is nice and clean. Keep up the great work Islamic Foundation of Toronto. It's a pleasure to visit Masjids like IFT. They have a very good after school program as well and their Imams recite the Quran very nicely. I love this Masjid. Unlike other Masjids which collect money from people and then waste it on unnecessary construction, this Masjid actually uses the money for productive programs. I've never been to the Sister's floor but my told me that she loved it and it was one of the best Masjids she has been to. (Submitted on September 25, 2006) |
| Masjid Dar Us Salaam: NR Another traditional Desi run masjid. No programs for females and females are discouraged from coming to the Masjid. The old folks hate the Muslim youth that is why the youth are shouted at so that the youth are turned away from the Masjid. The main Friday Khutbah is in Urdu. That shows how much they care about the future generation. The Masjid Shura will be there till death. More like it's being run by dictators. The Masjid has a lot of potential but alas, it is being wasted. The Masjid is quite spacious though and it's usually clean. (Submitted on September 25, 2006) |
