| Islamic Association of Greater Hartford: ★★ Very beautiful masjid from the inside and out. Sometimes they have excellent people come and give Jumu'ah khutbah. Other times its just random people giving it. Community is nice. However they are involved in too much interfaith in which they advocate every religion. Being a traditional Sunni masjid they even advocate shia'a events! Asides from their shady activities the masjid and community itself is very nice and accommodates everyone. But sometimes it is too accommodating with regards to other faiths. (Submitted on March 5, 2012) |
| Islamic Center of Connecticut: ★★★★★ An excellent masjid in the Hartford area to attend! This masjid is probably one of the few Masaajid in the Greater Hartford Area that adheres to the sunnah the closest. Other masjids dabble in interfaith (not the good Da'wah kind) and other grey areas. The imam is quite knowledgeable and has studied overseas with many well known Shayoukh. The masjid has its own graveyard which is open to all muslims! There are many classes for both brothers and sisters that take place at the masjid. Probably the masjid in the area to attend! | Hartford Seminary: ★ Not really an Islamic school! They are more interfaith in nature. Also have weird beliefs on the Basic Tenets of Islam. Their classes are more about Islamic History than about Islamic Sciences. These people are not Islamic scholars and should not be asked for rulings on the religion. The requirement for the programs are also very relaxed compared to mainstream madrassas such as Al-Azhar, Deoband, or the Islamic University of Madinah. There are no requirements such as Memorization of Qur'an or understanding the language of Arabic. Also they do not differentiate between Sunni Islam and Shi'a Islam and mish-mosh everything together. Only modernist muslims approve of the teachings that go on in this place. (Submitted on September 11, 2011) |
