| Masjid Rahmah: ★★★★★ Masjid Rahmah is strict upon salafiyyah (qur'aan and sunnah upon the understanding of the 1st 3 generations of islaam.) My family traveled to NJ and we visited Masjid Rahmah, we benefitted by way of knowledge based seminars and khutba. We met so many pleasant brothers and sister may Allah bless them all, ameen. They treated us (travelers) like royalty. Mashaa'Allah (Submitted on December 23, 2010) |
| Islamic Society of the East Bay: NR The womens area in the main hall has a curtain partician that doesnt quite reach the floor. and the womens portion of the floor is equal to about 1/2 of of 1 row of the men. however behind that is a small classroom where with a door and a large one way window. and the women are allowed to pray there. They only open up the preschool (downstairs) and clear it away for the sisters to pray durring jumu'aa. and this is becuase the community is so large that they can hardly accomadate the men durring jumu'aa, even though it is a pretty large masjid compared to some.
Its kept very very clean. Mashaa'Allah. There is a small playground with a gate around it and lots of toys for children to play. and it also shares a parking lot with a nice park with a huge field of grass. Plenty of parking.
as far as the people in the community go, they are majority hanafi tagleegh. on any givin day you will see very little sunnah amoungst the men, and women not covered properly.
and if you are a woman who wears niqaab or if your wife wears niqaab, i would sincerely advise you not to remove it while you are upstairs. it is not secure, there are constantly men walking over to the womens area. (Submitted on October 31, 2010) |
| Masjid Al-Tawheed: NR The 'Qur'an and Sunnah' at this masjid is very apparent. You will see a lot of big beards, thobes, jilbaabs and niqaabs.
The imaam of the masjid and many members of the community (if not most) adhere to the salafi methodology.
The majority of the people are arab immigrants. and many of them speak very lil or no english. Needless to say, the khutba and the daarus are done in Arabic. The men may hear a translation. However i have never heard anything being translated on the womens side.
The womens side is very private. It is clean and spacious, however on a jumu'aa it can become packed. The bathroom is small, old and needs to be upgraded and remodeled badly becuase it appears dirty even though it may be clean.
The mens side is very clean and spacious with nice bathrroms and seperate areas for wudu

| Oakland Islamic Center: NR This masjid is very beautiful, clean, and spacious. Mashaa'Allah. Even though it is predominantly Arab, i would still consider it to be one of the most diverse masjids that i have been to whether your talking about ethnicity or methodolgy. Theres seems to be a little bit of everybody. (Submitted on October 31, 2010) |
| Islamic Center of Modesto: NR The Khutba is done in english here. The Imaam is Salafi, but most of the community are not. The community is largely Arab and Indo/pakistani.
The men's and women's areas are in spereate buildings. The womens is a small old house. and it is as if the masjid was built on the backyard of the house. It is reasonably clean and spacious. not beautiful, but accomidating.
