| Madina Masjid: ★★★★ I'm rathers saddened by the vast amount of money that the board of directors of Madinah Masjid are spending. Minarets and domes are truly a waste of money. The millions spent could have been invested in Islamic education for local children or feeding the poor overseas.
In any event, the board of directors notwithstanding, I love this mosque. I frequented this mosque since the early 80's. I've long since moved overseas, but I do miss the Saturday tablighi ijtamas and the meals and sleep overs after the bayan (speachs). A little rough on the edges, but I loved it.
I do hope that board of Madinah Mosque does not go the way of many other mosques and lose it's 'spirituality'by turning this place into a shrine to their vanity. (Submitted on July 3, 2008) |
| London Muslim Mosque: ★★★★★ I do miss the 'old days' when the Muslim community met under the same roof to worshiip. It is sad that the community has fragmented into separate Jamaas (congregations) as it has.
Anyway, I miss the old days when Ahmad (Al) Seede lead prayers on Fridays. I must say that I do like what is going on now. Lebanese pastries after Juma prayer, active youth groups, mosque open most of the day. Sucessive boards of directors have taken the 'good old mosque' and made it even better. Well done. | Forest Gate Mosque: ★★★ A clean, decent place to pray. I would often stop in to pray Asr after work. I can't say if there is a 'lady's section'. This mosque is a solid, 'traditional' mosque. (Submitted on May 24, 2008) |
| Church Road Mosque: ★★★ I used to attend this mosque when I lived in Manor Park. It's a 'traditinal mosque' - no ladies section that I can recall. Arrive early in the winter montns, otherwise you'll have to pray downstairs (not the best place to be with a hundred other people - only one, narrow exit). Good place to pray. | Muslim World League: ★★★ Enjoyed attending Juma here when I atttended Birkbeck College. Arrive early as the place gets packed early. (Submitted on May 24, 2008) |
| Minhaj-ul-Quran Mosque: ★★★★ Located in what was once a cinema house, Minhaj-ul-quran is a big, bright place to pray. I'm an occasional visitor, but there seems to be a madressa and other activities for children. Wudu faciliites are up stairs (may be a problem for those with mobility problems). A gift shop is run bu Minhaj is next to the mosque. (Submitted on May 24, 2008) |
