| Islamic Center of the Inland Empire: ★★★★ Prayed here a few times when I worked in the area. Very nice facilities, comfortable place. Would recommend it - there's an Islamic school on the premises as well. And the mosque is built in wonderful California-Spanish style, with arches reminiscent of Muslim Spain. | Islamic Center of Stockton: ★★★★ Nice, comfortable prayer area, large-ish parking lot, and large wudu area (at least for the gents, don't know for the ladies).
Definitely got a Pakistani vibe to it: went between Maghreb and Isha, and I was the only one among 8 people present not wearing a shalwar kameez, and the signs in the mosque were written mostly in Urdu, some in English. (Submitted on August 5, 2009) |
| San Francisco Muslim Community Center (SFMCC): ★★★★★ Salam.
I prayed jummah here today, and had a very, very pleasant experience. It seems to be a small community mosque, with a solid imam and great, communal vibe.
It is one medium-sized room, with few furnishings but clean and neat. The wudu/bathroom area is behind the prayer room, separate facilities for men and women. There is a small room up front for shoes and coats, free water bottles, some fliers and prayer schedules.
The khutbah was less academic and more of a discussion of problems facing the community. And it was inspirational, yet low-key. About 70% of the attendees were African-American Muslims, the rest immigrant Muslims. After the prayer, a man welcomed me to the mosque, and, upon learning that I was new to the area, gave me a list of all the mosques in California and their addresses. He also some copies of "Muslim Journal."
Overall, a great experience. If I lived in San Francisco, I would come here often. (Submitted on March 13, 2009) |
| Masjid Al-Hamdulillah: ★★★★★ I love this mosque. Haven't been to all the mosques in the area, but this is my favorite so far. The imam gives great khutbas - and there is a definite community vibe.
